Circle of Support

Grant Proposal:
To support organizational by funding a consultant to refine mission, and organizational values, develop a strategic plan and an annual plan.

Purpose of Agency:
To equip girls in Southern Dallas with academic, leadership and life skills to become productive citizens.

Educational First Steps
$5,000 Wilson Davis Donor Advised Fund Grant   
                  
Grant Proposal:
To support program expenses for a new center through the "4 Steps to Excellence Program" that targets non-profit childcare and preschool centers in low income areas that may be considered baby sitting operations.

Purpose of Agency:
To improve the quality and availability of early childhood education for economically disadvantaged Dallas area children.

Empowering Women as Leaders
$4,000 DWF Emerging Agency Grant                    
Fund Area:              Education – Organizational Development                  

Grant Proposal:
To support a board development workshop, vision and mission statement review and creating organizational values and vision statements and strategic planning workshop.

Purpose of Agency:
To raise funds for scholarships and to provide mentoring to "non-traditional" female college students - women ages 23 and up who demonstrate high potential, regardless of race, religion , or creed. At the same time, EWL provides a forum for executive women to network and enable other women to reach new heights, while encouraging philanthropy among professional women.

Parkland Foundation - Injury Prevention Center
$15,000 Houck Mother Daughter Donor Advised Fund Grant             

Grant Proposal:
The Creative Girls Program is an after school program in the Bachman Lake area for mothers and daughters (ages 7-11 years). The program will be held for 46 weeks, including the summer, at three elementary school locations (Burnet, Cigarroa, and Saldivar). Childcare for non - participating children of participating mothers and a nutrition component would also be included.

Purpose of Agency:
To reduce injuries and deaths from injuries through education, community development, research, collaboration and direct services.

Helping Angels, Inc.
$2,500 DWF Emerging Agency Grant

Grant Proposal:
To support web site development and maintenance, publicity and volunteer recruitment and to continue working with a consultant to develop the organization’s infrastructure as learned in the Emerging Agency Leadership classes. 

Purpose of Agency:
A Christian Ministry that will serve to enrich and strengthen the family structure.  Vision:  To aid pregnant teens and women in positive lifestyle changes.  Goal: to enrich and strengthen families through our services, which encourage the development of life skills to improve the quality of life for each family member.

Jewish Family Service
$10,000 Houck Mother Daughter Donor Advised Fund Grant
          

Grant Proposal:
Weaving Webs of Womanhood, a Psycho-Educational Series, is a weekly program held in the evening for 1.5 hours in six consecutive week blocks focusing on education, social skill-building and exercises for mothers and daughters.

Purpose of Agency:
To preserve and strengthen the quality of life for individuals and families in the Jewish and greater Dallas communities by providing essential and affordable mental-health and social services.

LifeLine Shelter for Families Inc.
$3,600  DWF Emerging Agency Grant
                                             

Grant Proposal:
To fund a consultant to assist with the development of a strategic plan to address fund development, staffing and board development.

Purpose of Agency:
To reduce homelessness of families with children in the Grand Prairie Independent School District.

Mi Escuelita Preschool Inc.
$15,000 CREW Grant


Grant Proposal:
To provide scholarship support and professional development for Mi Escuelita teachers including Associates and Bachelors Degrees.

Purpose of Agency:
Mi Escuelita is an early childhood program dedicated to teaching English and developing early learning skills to at-risk children of all cultures in preparation for a successful school experience.
Note: This grant is categorized as both a Economic and Educational Grant.

Nasher Sculpture Center

Grant Proposal:
To support the Together in the Center Program, a monthly, family-oriented program which provides an enriching cultural experience through the collaboration of arts-sculpture, dance and music. 

Purpose of agency:
To be an international focal point and catalyst for the study, installation, conservation, and appreciation of modern and contemporary sculpture.

Grant Proposal:
To fund two teaching assistants who are essential to the team teaching moms and their pre-schoolers English literacy and social skills and the importance of mothers' supporting their children's education.

Purpose of Agency:
To build healthy families by working with the entire family unit developing life skills, literacy skills and a strong commitment to family wholeness.

The Stewpot of First Presbyterian Church
$20,000 Mrs. H.L. (Ruth Ray) Hunt Memorial Fund

Grant Proposal:
In January 2006, the Stewpot responded to a need identified by the parents of the children and youth in their Saturday School program by initiating a pilot ESL class for mothers. The grant would continue the ESL program for the mothers.

Purpose of Agency:
The children and youth program at the Stewpot seeks to end the cycle of poverty before it can begin.  We're offering the best chance for at-risk youth to learn; develop trust and friendships; develop their intellectual and creative abilities; and begin to plan for a future that allows them to be everything they are meant to be.Note: This grant is categorized as both a Economic and Educational Grant.

SER Child Development Center
$5,000  Wilson Davis Fund Grant

                  
Grant Proposal:
To reinstate the Training & Apprenticeship Program.  The program provides classes leading to a Child Development Associate degree and apprenticeships to Hispanic women wishing to further their careers or work in the childcare industry.

Purpose of Agency:
To provide multicultural, educational, and affordable literacy-focused bilingual childcare programs that guide families and prepare young children to succeed in elementary and secondary school. Note: This grant is categorized as both an Economic and Educational Grant.

Texas Hope Literacy Inc.
$4,000 Dallas Women's Foundation Emerging Agency Grant                    

Grant Proposal:

To support organizational development by funding a coach to provide board development training and strategic plan development.

Purpose of Agency:
Texas HOPE Literacy is a unique faith-based organization dedicated to empowering men and women, and children to become productive citizens in today's world.

Trinity Presbyterian Church- ODIS
$20,000 Mrs. H.L. (Ruth Ray) Hunt Memorial Fund

Grant Proposal:
To support the cost of providing naturalization and legal immigration services to persons living within Denton and surrounding counties.  Majority of the clients are low income and benefit from the minimal fees involved in processing their cases.

Purpose of Agency:
Opening Doors Immigration Services (ODIS), a community service project of Trinity Presbyterian Church, is committed to providing expert legal Immigration and naturalization Services in a safe and supporting environment.  ODIS serves Denton and surrounding counties and is committed to serve clients regardless of financial limitations.

La Reunion TX
(a collaboration with Girls Scouts Tejas Council, CityGallery and Dallas Art Dealers Association)
$3,000 Rosenthal Donor Advised Fund Grant

Grant Proposal:
To fund the Art Chicas Unidas program where art professionals in the DFW area will provide training in various media, materials, concepts and the business side of art as well as teaching how to leverage artistic ability to fund college education. The first phase includes a one day weekend workshop and gallery show for the participants where they will be selling their art. The second phase includes an art immersion weekend at Camp Whispering Cedars. 

Purpose of Agency:
The joint venture is a new program as of November 2006.  The mission of this joint venture is to provide high school girls in the targeted DISD school the opportunity to develop art-related leadership skills by 1) enabling these girls to work with and learn from professional artists; 2) providing a vision for a future profession in arts and/or media; 3) teaching girls how their skills in art can be used to facilitate a college education; and 4) allowing girls to produce art in new and traditional media that portrays a contemporary image of Girl Scouts in the community.
