Emerging Agency Leadership Institute
Younger, emerging nonprofit agencies do not always have the resources and experience to pursue funding and grow. The goal of the Dallas Women’s Foundation’s Emerging Agency Leadership Institute (EALI) is to create more effective nonprofits by training their leaders.
EALI provides Executive Directors, plus a key staff or board members, a series of workshops tailored specifically for the needs of developing nonprofit organizations. The ultimate goal is to build the capacity of these agencies, via their key staff and board members.
To be eligible for the Emerging Agency Leadership Institute (EALI), an agency must:
- Serve or have a direct impact on women and girls in Dallas, Collin, or Denton Counties
- Have 75% or more of their clients who benefit from their programs be women or girls
- Have 501(c)3 status
In addition, please review the following criteria. If your agency meets a minimum of 3 out of 4 of these, an application may be submitted for review:
- Operating budget of less than $100,000 per year
- Operate with minimal permanent staff and use volunteers for administrative support and program support
- Limited staff training/knowledge in non-profit education
- Younger than 5 years, OR have been operating from year to year without experiencing significant growth in staff, funding, and population served
EALI is offered at no cost to the agency. At the end of the training, there will be competitive grants available for additional organizational development projects (example – to hire a part-time grant writer or to hire a consultant to assist with strategic planning).
Workshop topics are:
- Board Development
- Fund Development
- Budgeting
- Evaluation
In addition, two other tools will be available during your involvement in EALI:
- An experienced nonprofit coach will work one-on-one with the Executive Director of each agency for a designated period each month.
- A Leader’s Circle will meet once a month and will consist of a group of your peers also “new” to the Executive Director role.
