- With obesity and overweight rates on the rise, there is a troubling shift in chronic disease risk factors occurring among women in Dallas-Fort Worth.
- As HIV/AIDS spreads more rapidly through the heterosexual population, the burden of the disease is beginning to shift towards our region’s women.
- Increases in infant mortality and very low birth weight babies are increasing the strain on women related to children and reproduction.
- Teen births continue to be a significant health issue that translates into broad-reaching challenges for young women and the community at large.
- The toll that violence takes on women is incompletely and inconsistently documented.
What is known for certain is that violence against women continues to be a problem in our community and a threat against the well-being of women in Dallas-Fort Worth.
