Single Moms Can - $4,000
Technical Assistance - $2,200
To establish a Single Moms Can program to address the needs of pregnant
and parenting adolescents, providing intensive mentoring and case management,
initiating referrals to other community services, and building community
support. Funds will partially fund the Executive Director’s salary
for the 10 week summer program, in addition to purchasing the Parents
and Teachers screening tools and training, and curriculum-based books
and general office supplies.
Mission: To provide community based youth mentoring and advocacy, along with offering resources and referrals relating to parenting, educational tutoring, health, and early childhood development.
Emerging Woman Ministries
Daycare Center - $5,000
Technical Assistance - $959
To assist The Esther’s House Project, a 12-month residential outreach
program designed to transition female ex-offenders from incarceration
back into the community. The grant will be used to fund the conversion
of a donated building into a daycare center.
Mission: inspire and encourage women to reach their full potential by assisting them in cultivating the seed of greatness that is sown within. This is achieved by identifying and nurturing their physical, emotional, spiritual, and educational voids.
High Adventure Treks for Dads & Daughters (HATS)
Operating Expenses - $9,878
HATS is dedicated to providing opportunities for dads and their early
teen daughters to be together in an outdoor environment, to share experiences
not attained in their daily routines, and to achieve a new sense of commitment
to each other and to the values their family holds. Grant monies will
pay for the creation of a program manual, the printing of brochures, &
general office supplies.
Mission: To promote interaction between dads and daughters through the organization of outdoor adventure activities, and through this, to assist in the healthy development of girls through their teens years and into adulthood.
The House of Refuge Domestic Violence Center
Operating Expenses – $5,000
Technical Assistance - $1,000
The House of Refuge houses up to 7 women and 17 children escaping family
violence. Grant support will fund new interior doors, windows, carpet,
and tile for the bathroom.
Mission: To provide hope and healing to battered women and children by providing shelter and emotional support, and give them the knowledge to lead safe and violence-free lives.
Transformations
Operating Expenses - $10,000
Transformations is a work preparedness program for economically and educationally
disadvantaged women focusing on resume preparation, interviewing techniques,
proper interview and work apparel, computer skills training, GED preparation,
employment search, and employment maintenance.
